Mention the story of Abraham, the truthful Prophet, in the Book (the Quran) 41 When he said to his father, 'Father, why worshippest thou that which neither hears nor sees, nor avails thee anything? 42 O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path. 43 Why do you worship Satan, O father? Verily Satan was disobedient to Ar-Rahman. 44 Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan' 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 'Peace be on you' he (Abraham) said, 'I shall call upon my Lord to forgive you, for to me He has been gracious. 47 "And I shall remain separated from you and all that you worship other than Allah and shall worship my Lord; possibly, by worshipping my Lord, I will not be amongst the unfortunate.” 48 So when he had separated himself from them and from what they worshipped besides God, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each of them a prophet. 49 And we gave them of Our mercy, and assigned to them a high and true renown. 50
