And mention in the Book (the Quran) Ibrahim (Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet. 41 When he said to his father, 'Father, why worshippest thou that which neither hears nor sees, nor avails thee anything? 42 Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path. 43 "O my father! serve not Satan: for Satan is a rebel against (Allah) Most Gracious. 44 Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan' 45 He said: "Are you averse to my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall have you stoned to death. So go away for a while from me." 46 [Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me. 47 "And I shall remain separated from you and all that you worship other than Allah and shall worship my Lord; possibly, by worshipping my Lord, I will not be amongst the unfortunate.” 48 Thereupon Abraham dissociated himself from his people and the deities they worshipped instead of Allah, and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and made each of them a Prophet; 49 and We gave them of Our mercy, and We appointed unto them a tongue of truthfulness, sublime. 50
