Mention the story of Abraham, the truthful Prophet, in the Book (the Quran) 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan' 45 (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!" 46 He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me. 47 I shall withdraw from you and that unto which ye pray beside Allah, and I shall pray unto my Lord. It may be that, in prayer unto my Lord, I shall not be unblest. 48 When (Abraham) rejected his people and what they worshipped instead of God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob and made both of them Prophets. 49 And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor. 50
