In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Ta Ha 1 We did not bestow the Qur'an on thee from on high to make thee unhappy, 2 But as admonition for him who fears -- 3 A revelation from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens. 4 The Beneficent God is dominant over the Throne (of the realm). 5 Unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth, as well as all that is between them and all that is beneath the sod. 6 Whether or not you express (your thoughts) in words, God certainly knows all unspoken thoughts and all that is even more difficult to find. 7 Allah! no God there is but he! His are the names excellent. 8 And has the story of Moses reached you? - 9 Behold, he saw a fire: So he said to his family, "Tarry ye; I perceive a fire; perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire." 10 When he approached it, a voice called out: 11 Verily I am your Lord! Take off your shoes. You are in the sacred valley, Tuwa! 12 And I have chosen thee, so hearken unto that which is inspired. 13 I am God. There is no deity save Me; so worship Me alone, and say your prayers in My remembrance. 14 Verily the Hour (of the great change) is about to come. I keep it secret that every soul may be rewarded for its endeavour. 15 So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish. 16 And what is that in thy right hand, O Moses? 17 He said: it is my staff; I lean there on; and therewith beat down fodder for my sheep; and for me therein are other purposes. 18 (Allah) said: "Cast it down, O Musa (Moses)!" 19 He threw it, and behold! It was a snake, active in motion. 20 God said, "Take hold of it, and have no fear: We shall return it to its former state. 21 And press thy hand to thy side, it will come forth white, without hurt, as another sign. 22 "That We may show you (some) of Our Greater Signs. 23 Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent.' 24
