In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Ta-Ha. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 We have not Sent down on thee the Qur'an that thou shouldst be distressed. 2 it is only a reminder for him who fears Allah; 3 A revelation from Him (Allah) Who has created the earth and high heavens. 4 (Allah) Most Gracious is firmly established on the throne (of authority). 5 To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth, all that lies between them, and lies below the earth. 6 If you speak loudly; He has indeed knowledge of the secret and the hidden. 7 Allah! no God there is but he! His are the names excellent. 8 And has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 9 When he saw a fire, he said to his family: "Wait! Verily, I have seen a fire, perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire." 10 And when he reached it, he was called by name: O Moses! 11 I am thy Lord; put off thy shoes; thou art in the holy valley, Towa. 12 And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed: 13 Verily I! I am Allah! no God there is but I; so worship Me, and establish prayer for My remembrance. 14 “The Last Day will surely come – it was close that I hide it from all – in order that every soul may get the reward of its effort.” (He revealed it to His Prophets, so that people may fear and get ready. The exact time is not revealed to the people.) 15 So do not let those who do not believe in it and follow their vain desires, turn you away from it. 16 And what is this in your right hand, O Musa! 17 "It's my staff," he answered; "I lean on it, and fell leaves for my goats with it, and I have other uses for it." 18 The Lord said, "Moses, throw it on the ground". 19 So he threw it down, and all of a sudden, it turned into a fast-moving serpent. 20 Said He: "Take hold of it, and fear not: We shall restore it to its former state. 21 And press thy hand to thy side, it will come forth white, without hurt, as another sign. 22 That We may show thee (some) of Our greater portents, 23 Go to the Pharaoh as he has become exceedingly rebellious." 24

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
