Said [Moses]: "O my Sustainer! Open up my heart [to Thy light,] 25 And make my mission easy. 26 "And remove the impediment from my speech, 27 "That they understand my speech, 28 Appoint for me of my folk a familiar, 29 "Harun (Aaron), my brother; 30 Strengthen me through him, 31 And associate him in my affair. 32 That we may glorify Thee much 33 And remember you a great deal. 34 “Indeed You see us.” 35 He answered: "Granted is your prayer, O Moses. 36 "And indeed We conferred a favour on thee another time (before). 37 When we inspired in thy mother that which is inspired, 38 Saying: Put him into a chest, then cast it down into the river, then the river shall throw him on the shore; there shall take him up one who is an enemy to Me and enemy to him, and I cast down upon you love from Me, and that you might be brought up before My eyes; 39 “When your sister went, then said, ‘Shall I show you the people who may nurse him?’ And We brought you back to your mother in order to soothe her eyes and that she may not grieve; and you killed a man, so We freed you from sorrow, and tested you to the maximum; you therefore stayed for several years among the people of Madyan; then you came (here) at an appointed time, O Moosa.” 40 I have chosen you for Myself. 41 Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance. 42 Go both of you to the Pharaoh; he has become a rebel. 43 "And speak to him mildly, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear Allah." 44 They (Moses and Aaron) said: "Our Lord! We fear lest he hasten with insolence against us, or lest he transgress all bounds." 45 He said: "Have no fear. I am with you, hearing and seeing all. 46 So go you both to Pharaoh, and say, "We are the Messengers of thy Lord, so send forth with us the Children of Israel and chastise them not; we have brought thee a sign from thy Lord; and peace be upon him who follows the guidance! 47 It has been revealed to us that punishment will befall him who denies and turns away. 48 The Pharaoh asked them, "Who is your Lord?" 49 Moses replied, "Our Lord is He who has given everything its form, then guided it." 50 He (Pharaoh) asked: 'How was it then, with the former generations' 51 (Moses) replied: "Knowledge of that is with my Lord (recorded) in the Book. My Lord neither errs nor forgets." 52 [It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants. 53 To eat and feed your cattle. Surely there are signs in these for those who are wise. 54
