He said: O my Lord! Expand my breast for me, 25 'and do Thou ease for me my task. 26 and my tongue fluent 27 so that they might fully understand my speech, 28 and appoint for me a helper from among my family, 29 Aaron, my brother; 30 "Add to my strength through him, 31 and associate him with me in my task. 32 That we may sing Your praises much, 33 and remember You much: 34 Surely You know us well." 35 He said: "Moses, your petition is granted. 36 "And indeed We conferred a favour on thee another time (before). 37 When We inspired unto thy mother that which We inspired, 38 Saying: Put him into a chest, then cast it down into the river, then the river shall throw him on the shore; there shall take him up one who is an enemy to Me and enemy to him, and I cast down upon you love from Me, and that you might be brought up before My eyes; 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 And I have chosen you for Myself: 41 Go with My signs, you and your brother, and do not be lax in remembering Me. 42 "Go, both of you, to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds; 43 yet speak gently to him, that haply he may be mindful, or perchance fear.' 44 'O our Lord' both said, 'We fear lest he may be excessive against us or become insolent' 45 'Fear not,' said He. 'Surely I shall be with you, hearing and seeing. 46 "So go ye both to him, and say, 'Verily we are messengers sent by thy Lord: Send forth, therefore, the Children of Israel with us, and afflict them not: with a Sign, indeed, have we come from thy Lord! and peace to all who follow guidance! 47 it has been revealed to us that punishment shall overtake him who rejects it and turns away!'" 48 (Pharaoh) said: Who then is the Lord of you twain, O Moses? 49 'Our Lord' he replied, 'is He Who gave everything its creation and then guided it' 50 (The Pharaoh) said: "And what about the former generations?" 51 He (Moses) answered: 'The knowledge of them is in a Book with My Lord. My Lord neither goes astray, nor forgets. 52 It is He who has laid out the earth for you and traced routes in it and sent down water from the sky. We have brought forth every sort of plant with it, 53 Eat (for yourselves) and pasture your cattle: verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. 54
