'Lord, open my breast,' said Moses, 25 And ease for me my task 26 Remove the defect of my tongue 27 That they may understand my speech. 28 And give to me an aider from my family: 29 Aaron, my brother; 30 Strengthen me through him, 31 And let him share my task 32 so that we may glorify You much 33 and remember You much: 34 Lo! Thou art ever Seeing us. 35 He said: surely thou art granted thy petition, O Musa! 36 And certainly We bestowed on you a favor at another time; 37 When We told your mother what We relate: 38 "Cast him into the ark, and cast him into the river, and let the river throw him up on the shore. An enemy of Mine and his shall take him." And I loaded on thee love from Me, and to be formed in My sight, 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 "And I have Istana'tuka, for Myself. 41 "Go forth, [then,] thou and thy brother, with My messages, and never tire of remembering Me: 42 Then go to the Pharaoh as he has become exceedingly rebellious. 43 “And speak to him courteously, that perhaps he may ponder or have some fear.” 44 They said: "Our Lord! Verily! We fear lest he should hasten to punish us or lest he should transgress (all bounds against us)." 45 He said: "Fear not: for I am with you: I hear and see (everything). 46 So go to him, and say: verily we are two apostles of thy Lord, so let go with us the Children of Isra'il, and torment them not; surely we have come unto thee with a sign from thy Lord: and peace be upon him who followeth the guidance. 47 it has been revealed to us that punishment shall overtake him who rejects it and turns away!'" 48 He asked: "Who then is that Lord of yours, O Moses?" 49 He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave everything its form and then guided it." 50 He said: Then what is the state of the former generations? 51 Musa said: the knowledge thereof is with my Lord in the Book; my Lord erreth not, nor He forgetteth. 52 HE IT IS who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has traced out for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, and [who] sends down waters from the sky: and by this means We bring forth various kinds of plants. 53 so eat and graze your cattle. In this there are signs for men of understanding. 54
