And Aaron indeed had told them beforehand: O my people! Ye are but being seduced therewith, for lo! your Lord is the Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order. 90 They said: We will by no means cease to keep to its worship until Musa returns to us. 91 But (Moses) said: "O Aaron, when you saw that they had gone astray, what hindered you 92 “That you did not come after me? So did you disobey my order?” 93 [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " 94 He said: What was then your object, O Samiri? 95 He replied, "I had the skill (of carving) which they did not have. I followed some of the Messengers's (Moses) tradition, but I then ignored it. Thus, my soul prompted me (to carve a golden calf with an artificial hollow sound). 96 Moses said, "Go away! Throughout your life you will not be able to let anyone touch you. This will be your punishment in this life. The time for your final punishment is inevitable. You will never be able to avoid it. Look at your god which you have been worshipping. We will burn it in the fire and scatter its ashes into the sea." 97 Your god is only God. There is no other god but He. His knowledge extends over everything." 98 Thus We tell you, (Muhammad), the stories of the past and We have given you the Quran. 99 If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment; 100 They will abide in that (state in the Fire of Hell), and evil indeed will it be that load for them on the Day of Resurrection; 101 the Day when the trumpet shall be blown: We shall gather all the sinners on that Day. Their eyes will turn blue with terror 102 In whispers will they consult each other: "Yet tarried not longer than ten (Days); 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
