Aaron had indeed told them earlier: "O my people, you are being only misled with this. Surely your Lord is Ar-Rahman. So follow me and obey my command." 90 They said: we shall by no means cease to be assiduous to it until there returneth to us Musa. 91 (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong, 92 “That you did not come after me? So did you disobey my order?” 93 Aaron said, "Son of my mother! Do not seize me by my beard nor by my head. I was afraid that you would say, 'You have caused dissension among the Children of Israel and did not pay heed to my words.'" 94 Said Moosa, “And what is your explanation, O Samri?” 95 He said: l saw that which they saw not; so I seized a handful from the footstep of the messenger, and then cast it; thus my soul embellished the affair to me. 96 He said: Begone then, surely for you it will be in this life to say, Touch (me) not; and surely there is a threat for you, which shall not be made to fail to you, and look at your god to whose worship you kept (so long); we will certainly burn it, then we will certainly scatter it a (wide) scattering in the sea. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 So We relate to thee stories of what has gone before, and We have given thee a remembrance from Us. 99 He who turns away from it will surely bear a heavy burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,- 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 Whispering secretly among themselves, “You have not stayed on earth but for ten days.” 103 We know well what they will utter, whereas the wisest among them will say, “You have stayed just for a day.” 104
