Aaron had already, before this said to them: "O my people! ye are being tested in this: for verily your Lord is (Allah) Most Gracious; so follow me and obey my command." 90 They had said: "We will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us." 91 He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray, 92 That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order? 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 Musa said: what was thy object, O Samiri? 95 He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." 96 [Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast. 97 Your God is only One, Allah. There is no god, except He, alone. His knowledge encompasses all things. 98 Thus We recount unto thee some tidings of that which hath preceded; and surely We have vouchsafed unto thee from before Us an admonition. 99 Whoever turns away from it - then indeed, he will bear on the Day of Resurrection a burden, 100 They will remain in it forever – what an evil burden it will be for them on the Day of Resurrection! 101 On the day the Trumpet is blown; and We shall muster the sinners upon that day with eyes staring, 102 and they shall murmur among themselves: 'You have stayed away but ten (days and nights)' 103 We know very well what they will say, when the justest of them in the way will say, 'You have tarried only a day.' 104
