The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it, but do not take it seriously; 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? 10
