The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it, but do not take it seriously; 2 With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" 3 The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
