The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations – therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have bestowed upon you a Book that mentions you. Do you not understand? 10
