The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have bestowed upon you a Book that mentions you. Do you not understand? 10
