The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, 2 diverted their hearts. The evildoers whisper one to another, 'Is this aught but a mortal like to yourselves? What, will you take to sorcery with your eyes open?' 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 And We made them not bodies not eating food; nor were they to be abiders. 8 In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
