۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
