۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He answered: "Nay, but your [true] Sustainer is the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth - He who has brought them into being: and I am one of those who bear witness to this [truth]!" 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
