۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
