۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We said, 'O fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham!' 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
