۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
