۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
