۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
