۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 By the Lord, I will devise a plan against your deities after you have gone away and turned your backs!" 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
