The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
118 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa') before Prostration (Al-Sajdah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers, 1 Those who humble themselves in their prayers; 2 who avoid whatever is vain and frivolous; 3 those who pay the zakat; 4 And who guard their modesty - 5 Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, 6 As for those who seek beyond that, they are transgressors" 7 who are true to their trusts and their covenants, 8 And who (strictly) guard their prayers;- 9 Those are the heirs 10 Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever). 11 Verily We created man from a product of wet earth; 12 Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; 13 Then We fashioned the sperm into an embryo, then fashioned the embryo into a shapeless lump of flesh; then from the lump of flesh We fashioned bones, then clothed the bones with flesh. Thus We formed him into a new creation. So blessed be God the best of Creators. 14 Thereafter you are destined to die, 15 Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. 16 And indeed We have created seven paths above you; and We are not unmindful of the creation. 17 And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. 18 Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat. 19 also a tree growing on Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat it. 20 And indeed there is also a lesson for you in cattle. We provide you with drink out of what they have in their bellies; and you have many other benefits in them: you eat of them, 21 And you are carried on them and on boats. 22
