And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again. 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
