The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
