The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 We then sent our Noble Messengers, one after another; whenever a nation’s Noble Messenger came to it they denied him, We therefore united the succeeding with the old, and made them history; so far removed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We gave the Book to Moses so that they may be guided. 49 And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. 50
