And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
