A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
