And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
