“O Noble Messengers, eat good clean things, and do good deeds; I know all that you do.” 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 And those who believe in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, 58 and do not ascribe partners to Him; 59 who spend their property for the cause of God, and whose hearts are afraid of their return 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing, 63 But then when We seize the affluent among them, they will cry out for help. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allah, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Or, say they: in him is madness? O Aye he brought them the truth, and most of them to the truth are averse. 70 And if the Truth had followed their desires, verily the heavens and the earth and whosoever is therein had been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their Reminder, but from their Reminder they now turn away. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed their afflictions, they would still persist in their insolence, blindly wandering. 75 And assuredly We took hold of them with the torment, yet they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they entreat. 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
