O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 Do they think that by all the wealth and offspring with which We provide them 55 We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 and believe in His messages 58 and do not ascribe partners to Him; 59 and who give whatever they [have to] give with their hearts trembling at the thought that unto their Sustainer they must return: 60 These people hasten to perform goodness, and it is they who shall reach it first. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 "Do not supplicate for help today; you will not be rescued by Us; 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 Insolently, treating them like tales told at night." 67 Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Or say they: "There is madness in him?" Nay, but he brought them the truth [i.e. "(A) Tauhid: Worshipping Allah Alone in all aspects (B) The Quran (C) The religion of Islam,"] but most of them (the disbelievers) are averse to the truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers, 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ If We took compassion on them and removed the affliction they are in, they would only wander lost in confusion. 75 And indeed We seized them with punishment, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke (Allah) with submission to Him. 76 Until when We open upon them a door of severe chastisement, lo! they are in despair at it. 77
