O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 So leave them in their error till a time. 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 and believe in His messages 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 Who give whatsoever they give (in His way), and their hearts tremble with fear that they have to go back to their Lord, 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 "Do not supplicate for help today; you will not be rescued by Us; 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they were unaware of their Messenger and were therefore repelled by him for he was a stranger to them? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers, 72 and, most surely, you are calling them to a straight path. 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. 75 Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray, 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
