O ye messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. Lo! I am Aware of what ye do. 51 Your religion is but one religion -- and I am your only Lord, therefore, fear Me. 52 But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; 59 and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord; 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 Aye! their hearts are in bewilderment in respect thereof, and they have works beside that, of which they are workers. 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 Invoke not loudly this day! Certainly, you shall not be helped by Us. 65 “My verses were recited to you, so you used to turn back on your heels.” 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse. 70 And were the truth to follow their desires there would have been corrupted the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein. Aye! We have come to them with their admonition; so it is from their admonition that they turn away. 71 Or is it that you ask them a recompense? But the recompense of your Lord is best, and He is the best of those who provide sustenance. 72 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ And even were We to show them mercy and remove whatever distress might befall them [in this life,] they would still persist in their overweening arrogance, blindly stumbling to and fro. 75 We inflicted Punishment on them, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor do they submissively entreat (Him)!- 76 Until when We shall open upon them a portal of severe torment, and lo! thereat they are desparing. 77
