It is He who gave you hearing, sight, and hearts, but only few of you give thanks. 78 And it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered. 79 It is He who gives life, and makes to die, and to Him belongs the alternation of night and day; what, will you not understand? 80 No, but they said what the ancients said before them: 81 They said: "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected indeed? 82 Indeed, this [very thing] we have been promised - we and our forefathers - long ago! This is nothing but fables of ancient times!" 83 Say, [O Muhammad], "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know?" 84 They will quickly reply, "It belongs to God." Say, "Will you not, then, take heed?" 85 Say: "Who is (the) Lord of the seven heavens, and (the) Lord of the Great Throne?" 86 They will say, "[They belong] to Allah." Say, "Then will you not fear Him?" 87 Say "In Whose Hand is the sovereignty of everything (i.e. treasures of each and everything)? And He protects (all), while against Whom there is no protector, (i.e. if Allah saves anyone none can punish or harm him, and if Allah punishes or harms anyone none can save him), if you know." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 12, Page 145] 88 They will reply spontaneously, "It is God." Ask them, "Why has falsehood bewitched you?" 89 Nay, but We brought them the truth and they are truly liars. 90 God has never given birth to a son and there is no other god besides Him. If there were, each god would have taken away his creatures and claimed superiority over the others. God is too exalted to be as they believe Him to be. 91 The knower of the absent and the present, too exalted is He for what they associate (with Him)! 92
