Say thou; my Lord! if Thou wilt shew me that wherewith they are threatened. 93 "My Lord! Then (save me from Your Punishment), and put me not amongst the people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing)." 94 We have the Power to strike them with torment before your very eyes. 95 Repel evil by what is best; We know best what they describe. 96 And say "O my Lord! I seek refuge with Thee from the suggestions of the Evil Ones. 97 I even seek Your refuge, my Lord, lest they should approach me." 98 [AS FOR THOSE who will not believe in the life to come, they go on lying to themselves] until, when death approaches any of them, he prays: "O my Sustainer! Let me return, let me return [to life,] 99 "So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!" No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected. 100 When the trumpet blast is sounded no ties of lineage will hold among them, nor will they ask after one another. 101 Therefore the ones whose scales prove heavy – they are the successful. 102 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their souls in Gehenna dwelling forever, 103 The Fire will burn their faces, and therein they will grin, with displaced lips (disfigured). 104 Were not My communications recited to you? But you used to reject them. 105 They will say: "Our Lord! Our wretchedness overcame us, and we were (an) erring people. 106 Lord, deliver us from Hell. Then, if we revert again, we shall definitely be wrongdoers." 107 He will say: "Remain condemned in it, and do not speak to Me. 108 "Behold, there were among My servants such as would pray, 'O our Sustainer! We have come to believe [in Thee]; forgive, then, our sins and bestow Thy mercy on us: for Thou art the truest bestower of mercy!' 109 you made a laughingstock of them and your hostility to them caused you to forget Me, and you simply kept laughing. 110 Verily I have recompensed them today, for they bore patiently, verily they are the achievers. 111 He will ask, "How many years did you stay on earth?" 112 They will say: "We stayed for a day or part of a day. Ask of those who keep count of this." 113 He (Allah) will say: "You stayed not but a little, if you had only known! 114 Did you, then, think that We created you in mere idle play, and that you would not have to return to Us?" 115 Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour! 116 Hence, he who invokes, side by side with God, any other deity - [a deity] for whose existence he has no evidence - shall but find his reckoning with his Sustainer: [and,] verily, such deniers of the truth will never attain to a happy state! 117 And say: 'My Lord, forgive and have mercy, for Thou art the best of the merciful.' 118
