Light (Al-Noor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ A sura that We have sent down and appointed; and We have sent down in it signs, clear signs, that haply you will remember. 1 (As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them, (giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement. 2 Let no man guilty of adultery or fornication marry and but a woman similarly guilty, or an Unbeliever: nor let any but such a man or an Unbeliever marry such a woman: to the Believers such a thing is forbidden. 3 And those who accuse clean women and then bring not four eyewitnesses, scourge them with eighty stripes and accept not their testimony forever. And these! they are the transgressors 4 Except those who repent after this and act aright, for surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 5 As for those who accuse their wives but have no witnesses except themselves; let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies, (swearing) by Allah that he is of those who speak the truth; 6 And (swear) a fifth time that if he tell a lie the curse of God be on him. 7 The wife shall receive no punishment, if she bears witness four times in the name of God that her husband has lied 8 And a fifth (time) that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he speaketh truth. 9 Had it not been for God's favors and mercy upon you (your life would have been in chaos). God accepts repentance and He is All-wise. 10
