We gave Moses the Book, and appointed with him his brother Aaron as minister 35 (Then) We said: 'Go to the nation who have belied Our signs' And We utterly destroyed them. 36 And [think of] the people of Noah: when they gave the lie to [one of] the apostles, We caused them to drown, and made them a symbol for all mankind: for, grievous suffering have We readied for all who [knowingly] do wrong! 37 As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them. 38 And We illustrated examples to each one of them; and ruining them, annihilated them all. 39 And certainly they have (often) passed by the town on which was rained an evil rain; did they not then see it? Nay! they did not hope to be raised again. 40 When they see you they take you only in jest: "Is this the one whom God has sent as messenger? 41 "He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods), had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!" And they will know when they see the torment, who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path! 42 How can you be the guardian of those who have chosen their own desires as their Lord? 43 Or do you think that most of them hear or understand something? They are not but like the cattle – in fact more astray from the path than them! 44
