When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.' 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful." 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 Is this then the blessing with which you reproach me, that you have the Children of Israel for worshipers' 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 and Moses asked, "Even if I show you a clear sign?" 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
