And when your Lord called to Moses, saying: 'Go to the harmdoing nation, 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 Send with us the Children of Isra'il? 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom, and made me an apostle. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 'Do you not hear' said he (Pharaoh) to those around him. 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
