And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' " 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. 20 "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
