And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
