And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
