And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
