And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
