And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
