And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
