And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
