And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
